Garlic Growth Cycle

Softnecks are better than hardnecks because they grow bigger and stay green longer. Planting them in the fall means you’ll get more bulbs next year.

Garlic seeds are the real thing. Cloves are not. Garlic bulbs are not the same as cloves. Seeds take even longer to grow than cloves.

Softnecks are the most popular type of onion. They are usually grown in warm climates, and they are more productive than hardnecks. They have stronger flavors, and they grow larger bulbs. Softnecks include ‘Silverskin’, ‘Inchelium Red’, ‘California Early’, and ‘Artichoke’.
